Scott M Brusven is the Director of Theatre for the Fargo-Moorhead Community Theatre (FMCT). He has a BA in Theatre Arts from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. While in college, he also studied Communications and Journalism. Brusven worked for Concordia’s On-Air television program and was a contributor to the weekly newspaper. Scott has been working in and studying theatre for over 15 years and has acted, directed, choreographed and scenically designed numerous productions.

At FMCT he has directed the following productions: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Anything Goes, Little House Christmas on Plum Creek, Into the Woods, Cinderella Kids, 101 Dalmatians Kids, Sweet Charity, The Chronicles of Narnia, A Christmas Carol, Wizard of Oz, The New Year’s Eve Revue, Disney’s Mulan Jr!, and Red Hot and Cole.

He has also directed summer musical theatre productions in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. His work includes: Beauty and the Beast, The Wizard of Oz, and The Sound of Music. Recently, he designed the set for the production of The King and I.

For the past five years Brusven has also worked with the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) both regionally and in Washington, DC. Regionally, he serves as Festival Management Consultant and Executive Assistant to the Region Chair for KCACTF Region Five. His duties include coordinating the festival special guests as well as serving as the festival’s production stage manager for award ceremonies and region event. During his time with KCACTF in DC he had the opportunity to work with theatre professionals from all over the country. Scott has been fortunate to work with the following theatre professionals: Bill Pullman, Jason Robert Brown, Ming Cho Lee, Gary Garrison, David Ives, Harriet Harris, Christine Baranski, Eric Schaffer, and many more.

Locally, Scott serves on the Worship Planning Committee and In-Praise Worship Team at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Moorhead, as a panelist for the Minnesota State Arts Board & North Dakota Council on the Arts Grant Programs, is an active member of The Arts Partnership of Fargo-Moorhead, serves as a Creative Consultant for A Center for the Arts in Fergus Falls, MN.

Scott has been married to his lovely wife Carrie for 5 years and they spend their non-working hours chasing their 2 year-old boy Miles around. They are expecting their second child in September of this year.

Maggie Olson has volunteered at the Fargo-Moorhead Community Theatre since 2005 and now works as an Office Assistant and Front of House Coordinator.  She has volunteered at FMCT as an actor, Stage Manager, Sound Board Operator, Light Board Operator, Sound Designer, and Assistant Director, and she teaches classes in community theatre Stage Management. She is a two-time recipient of FMCT’s John Gifford Volunteer of the Year Award.  Maggie has also worked as a Stage Manager, Assistant Director, and Dramaturg for Shakespeare in the Park in Detroit Lakes, MN.  She is currently an English Major at Minnesota State University Moorhead.
